COURSE DESCRIPTION
Our mountain bike specific (NICA) first aid classes highlight the most pertinent parts of the Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid Class as they apply to the sport. The Wilderness and Remote First Aid (WFA) program is appropriate for audiences from youth-serving organizations as well as adults who participate in outdoor recreational activities or who work in wilderness or remote settings where emergency medical services (EMS) response is more than 1 hour away.
Our Hybrid Courses offer a combination of online lecture with a live Expedition School Instructor, and in-person practical skills. Both components must be completed in order to receive a certificate for the course. Upon successful completion and 100% attendance of both Hybrid and Skills Check segments of CPR and FA training, students will receive certificates in American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid OR American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid AND The Expedition School NICA First Aid. All certificates are valid for 2 years.
*Please RSVP for the South Carolina Leaders’ Summit CPR and FA Skills Check if you plan to attend The Expedition School Skills Check.
PREREQUISITES
Hybrid portions of all courses must be completed ahead of time, or within 30 days post attendance of the Skills Check. CPR is a prerequisite to taking the NICA First Aid and Wilderness First Aid Courses. Students must possess and show proof of a current CPR card to attend the NICA FA or WFA Course. Further, students can register for any Expedition School CPR/AED training within 30 days of the FA course.
